What is Tiny Tap?:
Tiny tap is an online library of educational games and interactive lessons that empowers students, families and teachers to learn from each other. It allows students to create their own personalized learning apps as well as play new ones shared daily by a worldwide community of teachers and students. By doing so, the students are building on their creativity and knowledge of the topics being discussed in class. The recommended age for Tiny Tap is 2 years and older. It can be accessed on an Android device, laptop or iPad.
Benefits of Tiny Tap:
Incorporating Tiny Tap into the classroom has many benefits. As my classmates mentioned during their tech tool presentation, it is an excellent way for students to learn and have fun at the same time! Some of the benefits that were discussed include:
It offers offline play to allow students to continue the games without needing internet connection.
It is a great way to turn students' screen time into an independent learning experience.
The content is customizable, which allows students, families and teachers to create games that are tailored to the students' needs.
The games and lessons can be shared with students via Google Classroom.
It offers a variety of games and activities to help ESL students learn English.
By participating in the interactive games and lessons, the students can learn grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation of spoken and written English words.
How to Incorporate Tiny Tap into the Classroom:
There are a variety of ways that teachers can use Tiny Tap in the classroom to enhance student learning. Teachers can project their screen for the entire class to see and participate in games and lessons all together. This allows teachers to assess the students' learning and knowledge while providing support when needed. As discussed in class, Tiny Tap includes a feature called Social Market for students to explore free educational content created by other teachers and members in the community. With this function, students can enter their teacher's profile in the search bar to download and play the games and lessons they created. Students can also practice and build on specific skills using social market. The games and lessons can be set as public for everyone to view or private and can be shared with specific users as well as other apps using a link provided.
After learning more about Tiny Tap and creating an interactive game in class, I strongly believe that this is great tool for both primary and junior grades. It promotes engagement among students, enhances their learning experience, it is easy to use and is inclusive for all students' needs. I will definitely integrate this technology tool in my future classroom and I cannot wait to see the amazing learning experiences it will provide!
